Things like pumps, bridges, etc,  let you choose a direction before finalizing the build.    It would be nice if things like walls would have a preferred direction to build the walls from,   I'm sure all of us have had dwarfs wall themselfs into the area's we wanted them to be walled away from,  sometimes with lava closing in on them! SO either a general pathing improvement on wall building,  or let us choose the direction they'll build it from.
