The possible reason you cannot sell animals
« on: April 18, 2010, 08:49:45 am »

1.The animal most likely has to have a value of sorts.
2.It most likely needs to be tamed.
3.The animal may have the "Intelligent" tag.
Hope this helps!

Isn't the reason because when you try to sell them the haulers come and the animal gets out when they begin hauling the cage?

I have a theory that you are only marking the cage for selling and not the animal inside, thus letting it out (unless this has been said?)

1. Animals have values. These are used when buying them too.
2. Probably.
3. True. No slavery in the dwarves' ethics. What about if I'm playing as goblins, or if I alter the deal dwarves' ethics.

Actually I'd be inclined to believe that you are marking the animal but not the cage, so the dwarf tries to just grab the animal which does not work. :D
