Like the title says, anyone know how to kill skeletal creatures or bronze colossus?

For skeletal creatures I've tried mace, war hammer and battle axe. The mace hits sometimes but a lot of times "goes through" skeletal creatures. Hammer and axe hit, breaking bones and severing tendons, respectively, but neither of them actually KILLS the skeletal creatures.

For the colossus I've just had no luck whatsoever.

I'm using 31-02

Edit: My weapon skills go up very slowly too. I'm legendary fighter but very low level even in the weapon skill I started with.

The search feature is your friend. So is, yanno', actually looking for information, at all. There's a thread, here on the front page of the adventure mode discussion, that has all the answers people currently have. And probably over a dozen threads elsewhere that do the same thing.

For now, go here http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=53279.0.

As for the weapon skill thing, it seems you don't get XP when you attack prone creatures, generally, which may account for the comparable lag. Still get a couple levels worth depopulating a town, though.

I did read through that thread and only saw the rumor of 2h decapitation which was never confirmed, and yes I searched too, sorry I forgot to mention that. :) Thank you for the advice. I did not yet try a 2h axe, I'm playing a dwarf currently so I think I'm SOL.

Nothing standard-playable is going to combat-kill a colossi in adventure mode, more or less period. Maybe an artifact/high quality adamantine two-handed (slashing) weapon could manage it, in the hands of a non-dwarf, but good luck getting one, and it's still unlikely. There's test-heavier threads in both general and dwarf mode discussion. If you can sever the head or upper/lower bodies, you can drop undead... providing they have them, and even then it's not always going to happen. So yeah, you're SOL.

Make them charge past you off a cliff after you've mangled every part of them.

Yes. Clearly a bug that ought to be fixed in the future, but exploit it in the meantime.

Unless you can get the skeletons to fall in the lava, you won't be able to kill 'em.
It might help to run.
You could also modify the bronze colossus to have a brain, and disable nothought. Then, you can remove the brain and POW! It's dead.

It would kinda make sense for them to have a bronze brain. :)

And I realize now the topic title was unclear, I knew they were unkillable in 31_01, I was wondering if that was one of the "raw fixes" of 31_02.

Though apparently 2h axes can be used by dwarves now so I'll try that.

Even in the previous version, dwarves could wield 2H weapons in both hands - but only in adventure mode. Kinda handy.

Theoretically, you could lure the bronze colossus to a dragon and have it breathe fire on it until it melts, but you'd have to protect the dragon from the colossi to do that.

Has anyone tried starting a really, really big fire to kill colossi in Adventure mode?

colossi are not fire-proof so that would work, assuming you are able to run back and forth through fire for longer than it can.

I've tried stopping them (and many other things) in the arena by dropping them/encasing them in magma and pitting them against dragons, which is about all that ever seems to work.
