Multi Z level Mining Suggestion

I was just having a discussion with a few friends regarding digging straight to hell off the get go, this gave me an idea. Why cant we start an up/down stair way on z-1 and take it down to z-1xx then press enter, effectively speeding up the process of multi level mining. I, at least, couldn't find a way to do this in the current version. My current technique - along with the people I've talked to - requires me to designate up downs for every z level.

You can do it quite quickly if you use the mouse, go to the start level, click and hold on the spot you want to dig, and just hold down ">", it'll designate every level you pass through.
