Pretty much, once you kill someone aligned with a civilization, everyone in that civilization will try to kill you. Even the children. Nothing you can do except run away or embrace genocide.

You stop it by mass genocide, of course. Leave none alive. Show them that you are capable of no mercy.

you could plan an noble accident with help of dwarven engineering.
find the demon wait until he's in his home trap him there and cause an cave in on his house. now once the deed is done you can abandon the place and go back as your adventure to claim the your reward. this would so work if we got a universal civ changer and make your adventure do this so it won't look like he just payed a bunch of strangers to kill off a figure head. it makes claiming the deed much more sensible.

These kings are capable of instilling a real sense of nationalism in these people, what can ya say? I imagine the kids get a merit badge or something for killing serial killers; you know how kids respond to colorful prizes.
