Dealing with fun unkillable forgotten beasts.
« on: April 30, 2010, 05:49:28 pm »

Everyone knows there is a problem. But is there a solution? Im asking you people to post your theories on how to kill golden/iron/steam/whatever beasts.

The best i could come up with is immobilizing them with military and dropping a cave-in. Suggestions?

old good magma.
But walling them off to create a magma bath will be really tricky.

Whenever i read the "doesn't care about anything anymore" line, i instantly imagine a dwarf, sitting alone on a swing set. Just slowly rocking back and forth, somberly staring at the ground, and stopping every once in a while to sigh.
It's mildly depressing.

That, and if you get a Fun beast in the first cavern layer, you will have to pump magma about a 100 z levels up from magma sea.
Maybe just plain walling off the cavern edges is the best solution? But then there is titans...

Make you only entrance to the caves go all the way down to the magma sea, set up evil deathtrap with a side function of obsidian farm. Being encased in cooling magma kills anything, just gotta automate it properly so it doesnt rush past it.

wall it off, then drop the roof on it. AFAIK anything can be crushed with enough rocks.

if that's not an option, then undermine it and let the sucker fall 50 z-levels to it's doom. If it survives pour magma down after it. If it survives that, pour water on the magma.

or just wall it off and forget about it and let someone else deal with it in a thousand years.

A retractable drawbridge dropped on its head will work wonders.
