K, so i feel like an idiot for not knowing this, but i cannot seem to scroll with + or -, im on a laptop so maybe thats it or something. Either way i cant figure out how to increase attributes on the embark screen. Where before i had to press shift and + now i just have no idea. Any help would be appreciated.

You need to use numpad + and -, not the ones on the top row.

Do you have a Fn key? You can use that to access a numpad on most laptops

or you can press escape at any time and scroll down to where it says "key bindings".  Press Page down twice or just scroll normally until you find the entries saying "secondary selector up/down" then press k and whatever key you want to use instead

some laptops (like mine) have a numberpad that can be switched on using "fn" and one of the number or function keys...

Don't forget to export the bindings so you don't have to reset it every time.
