[31.01] Silver bars are tasked to be goblets, become iron goblets.

So, I had some silver bars, I thought I'd make some silver goblets to sell to the traders. My metalsmith grabs the bar of silver and some coke, runs to the forge and starts work. I check back a few minutes later to see his progress and lo and behold, there are three, shiny new iron goblets sitting there.

I had previously made three iron weapons, but apart from that had no other metals but silver. I tried it again, paying especial care to make sure it wasn't some weird iron bar, but he did indeed make iron goblets out of silver.

I've heard reports that other people got this too. Didn't see a thread though.

EDIT: This also happened with some golden flasks I tried to make, so it isn't just restricted to goblets or silver. But, it might (remotely) have something to do with the metalsmith's forge, not the magma forge. I am yet to have a magma forge up and running.

There are no more 'magma' workshops it seems. I think, if you build a normal forge over magma, it becomes a magmaforge on it's on, and switches back if there is no longer magma. So there shouldnt be any differences.

That's funny, i specifically built magma forges and smelters in my current game.

You have to have discovered magma in order for magma workshops to show up as options, just like always.

Under this, also: Brass smelted into goblets (from ore, just to be precise, because I haven't tried from bars) makes gold goblets.

Oh yeah? Well in 40d you allways had magmaforges in the build menu even on a map without magma.
If they now show up only after you discovered magma, ignore my post.

Might be related to this bug, bone/shell/etc artifact figures turn out as iron figures.

I got the same issue with gold bars turning into iron goblets at the forge.   I had only previously used the forge to make copper picks.  I thought I'd make a save of it and found out something interesting...  I saved after my metalsmith started forging the gold goblets, and when I reloaded they were finished as gold goblets.  However, the next goblets they made turned into iron.  I then tried saving/reloading a second time with silver goblets, and it didn't work (they became iron goblets).

Untrue. Even in 40d, they didn't show up till you discovered magma.

It's true, at least for all the 40ds I played (Which was quite a few). Did you use Mayday's mods?

Also I specifically built magma smelters and forges in the current version after starting on a volcano.

Can you tell us anything more about your setup, Doom? So far, the bug reports on the Tracker are kind of sparse.

For those wondering, the specific bug seems to be that most precious metal item tasks seem to produce iron at the end, (and there's one report of iron producing gold). See bug tracker bug #0000093 for a combined list of reports.

Last night I made some electrum goblets that also appeared as "gold goblet".

Are the values for these weird end-material goblets correct for (1) the input material or (2) the listed material of output?

If you melt them back down, what do you get?
