Those "Why I'm glad I found this game" moments.
« on: April 04, 2010, 07:23:16 am »

I was just checking out the new combat reports and I stumbled across one where my engraver was fighting a giant rat.

I was loving the detail, and then I saw that the engraver managed to deflect a blow from the rat with his rope reed trousers....

Seriously, forget your typical dull fantasy games and their silly little greaves!

Share your moments that make Dwarf Fortress such a unique and wonderful game.

My first fortress in the new version was named Friendship. It was overrun with demons.

Uh... Because of this:

So... she's shall we say... cosmetically challenged to an extreme degree... And she *WINKS* at people to say hello. This is probably due to the fact that her voice makes one's ears bleed, so she learned not to speak when first greeting people, or they just ran away. Oh, and she has a conehead. I should get her the ambushing skill, so she has a chance of sneaking up on a mate.

This is why dwarves drink so much. There is absolutely no way on earth they could *consider* snuggling up to her without being bombed out of their skulls.

I just plain cannot stop snickering at these descriptions. Toady did great work here.

The Elves were beautiful, Mistral Thrax admitted, in and elvish way, but it was his belief that the gods grew disappointed after a time because the elves -- being elves -- were essentially decorative but not particularly functional. They were content simply to live long lives and to exist. They did not nothing of any real value, in the opinion of Mistral Thrax."

Welcome to Murdermachines. Try the gecko sauce; it's delectable and delightful, a wonderful blend of savory and spicy that makes any dish delicious without being too overwhelming.
