Liquids slower?
« on: April 02, 2010, 05:54:16 pm »

So unless there is some other factor at work here, it seems like the liquid travel times are slower in the new version.

I have two 10 x 20ish rooms, and after a full year of being fed directly from a surface brook, water has touched on approximately 1/3 of the tiles.  Anyone else noticing this kind of behavior?  Is it possible that the map temperature (cold) has something to do with it?  The brook is not frozen.

I think so too, water seems rather slow, though magma seems normal.

Have you tried irrigating the crops WITH magma?

Because there should be a crop that requires that!!!!!

Yes, you should always apply more magma.

Hmmm, well combined with the requirement to irrigate (a delightful return to roots), this liquid slowdown is kind of annoying.  It's now 1053, two years after the brook was pierced, and the room is just over halfway full.  Graaaaaaaaahwrrr.

Does the water have to travel diagonally anywhere? In the last version this de-pressurized it I think, which would slow it down obviously. I had no trouble filling my own 31x21 farm - though I gave up on the current version until I can at least cook with dwarven syrup and vermin corpses stop paving the landscape  ::)
