Butchering from cages
« on: April 10, 2010, 07:29:09 pm »

So I've never really ran a meat industry before and I think I'd like to try it. That, or wait on a dungeon master to tame 15 elephants... But due to a space constraint I'd like to eat them. How to do I get them to butcher them since they are untamed and in cages? I'd rather not let them out to have the military kill them, I don't think it'd go well, they are all still low level wrestlers.

Elephants are not exotic pets, only exotic mounts, whatever that means in this version.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Very cool, so I don't have to eat them all. I still have a pile of gazelle and a cheetah that I'd like to get out of there though. Anyone know how to butcher them without being eaten by a cheetah? Funny as that would be, been there and done it before.

Build the cage by a large pit, make a pit/pond zone, dump the animal in.  If set up right, should work without the cheetah getting free.
Personally I'd save the cheetah until you get a dungeon master.  Never know when awesome animals will be of use, especially if you get a breeding pair :D
