Value tags for more items?
« on: March 03, 2008, 09:24:00 am »

I marvel sometimes, how far does the differentiation between item types (that should, ideally, all be one type with different properties) go in DF. The Value tag exists only for armor.

While I do understand that there're balance issues and stuff like that that makes adding the tags into the game itself problematic, I simply fail to understand why an iron whip can cost as much as an iron greataxe. Why the predefined value multipliers? Every ammo piece's base value is 1, every weapon's is 10, every craft is also 10 (or so)...  Why not make different instruments and toys have different value? Why not allow different costs for weapons, as is done with armor?

Alright, "W" questions aside, this does seem useful, especially for modding.
While I'm at it, rarity tags for weapons and shields (and all other items too) would also be nice.  ;)
