Must have been some mood...
« on: April 02, 2010, 06:13:20 am »

And then there was this dwarf civ that offered, among a great many other meat selections, 'prepared firefly brain'.  *boggle*.

Ahem.  I swears that cannot possibly be big enough for a meal...

(edited to add)

A little further down the list this same civ was offering prepared ant, beetle, and fly brains as well.

Anorexics, to make a meal of such?  Eyes much, much smaller than their stomachs?  I am seeing a dwarven culture running around with microscopes permanently over their eyes (gee, looks big enough to eat to me!)

The traders visited me with some interesting barrels.

One was full to the brim with fly ichor. As in, crushing up flies to get their juices. Into a big wooden barrel. I was amazed they found enough flies.

Another was an entire barrel of Groundhog blood. Armok be praised, I bought it.

That is a perfect example of the charms of DF. I can't stop laughing.

That is not a mistake either, the reasons that this exists are valid and very deep. No fiction yet has ever created such fascinating and unfathomable creatures as these Dwarves, and it just keeps getting better.

Perhaps they hail from the swamps of Kulettogum, where insects grow very large indeed?

It's a delicacy... of course, people who would eat caviar out of a can with a big spoon can't really appreciate this kind of pleasure ;)
Just imagine, some noble especially likes firefly brains and will order executions until he gets what he wants...

I hope the price reflects this in future revisions. A barrel of firefly brains costing 30,000 dwarfbucks. I could appreciate that.
