It's not going to use more of the chip if you turn it off.  I'm unconvinced the effect will be noticeable either way while running DF.

Hyperthreading on Pentium CPUs can cause some slowdown, with some programs, due to the way the CPU is designed (though that's not a problem with HT in general). DF might not be one of those programs that is slowed down by HT though.
