Well this is my first time writing something that happened in DF. I normally am not much of a writer but I decided that I wanted to write this scene out. Well here we go!
1st of Hematite, 207. Tirist Stockadeeagle the Greeness of Oblivion, slayer of the dragon Nelare Sizleglow the Flicker of Flame, stared at the bloodsplatered wall. She sighed as she thought of the tragedy that had just happened. The tragedy that destroyed their marksdwarf squadron, The Vestibules of Organizing.
Just some days before they were besieged by a three squadrons of goblins. The goblins did not stand a chance against their champion squadron, The Tongs of Vegetation. Not a single goblin lived. But there was casualties. One of the champion wrestlers had lost her beloved son, Mebzuth. Another was Sazir, one of the four soldiers in The Vestibules. His friends Tun and Shorast were injured with broken hands. Tun was placed in his bed to heal while Shorast stood near, watching over his friend.
This was a mistake. Tun never got over Sazir's loss, and threw tatrums, but these were ignored when the dragon Nelare came. The military was mobilized to strike it down, and it was slain fast; but still Tun laid in his bed.
Eventually it was too much, and he snapped. He released a crazed, beserk cry, and attacked Shorast who was trying to comfort his friend. Shorast knew his friend was gone, and fought. Neither had any ammo, so they attacked each other with their crossbows of bone. Each member of the squad had one. He fought valiently, but Tun was the stronger, and Shorast was struck down. Three fortress guards arrived quickly and killed Tun with ease, for they were champions themselves. With this, only Stukos, the leader, remained.
But the death of his squad had driven Stukos to misery, and soon to insanity. He was in the barracks with his bone crossbow and a single steel bolt. When he went insane, he shot the bolt into the chest of a pump operator, who was just hauling some loot, destroying both lungs. But Stukos was quickly struck down by The Tongs and a group of war dogs. In his death throes, his blood splattered on an engraved obsidian wall. The very wall Tirist stared at.
The wall had an image of three tentacle demons in the black volcanic glass, covered in red dwarven blood. Tirist thought of the recent mining project, that was to find the mythical metal Adamantine, that is believed to lie under the mountain; and the demons said to be trapped within. Three tentacle demons on the wall... three guards killed Tun... three dwarfs killed by their fellow dwarfs.
Tirist thought to herself, No, demons can't be forcing us against each other. A dwarven mind would never fall to their influence! But then Tirist heard a small sound that got gradually louder. It was the sound of laughter. Not just any laugh, but a horrid, evil laugh. As she listened to it, she knew it was no other laugh than that of the demons in the deep. She felt a great rage, raised her axe and struck the wall with it, making a great crack.
Then, she made a vow. As long as she lived, the Duchy of TwilightShadow, founded by the Hollow of Sadness, would never fall! If there is demons in the deep then she shall strike the down! She shall take revenge for The Vestibules of Organizing, of the three who had fallen due to insanity! Whatever lies in the deep will fall to her axe!
She then returned to sparring, knowing that if there is demons waiting, she must be as strong as possible to defeat them.
