Can i reduce my playing region after starting playing?

No, sorry.  Once you've embarked you can't move or resize the embark site.

The most those can do is let you change around individual creatures or edit the contents of the map.  There are also utilities that will let you embark in ways you usually can't, for example on inaccessible mountains or in the middle or an ocean.  There's nothing that can be done to resize your embark site while you're playing without you having to abandon and start over.
