Human caravan wiped out

A while back the human caravan arrived at the exact same time as an ambush, and they were wiped out before my army could render assistance.  Will the humans think I did it and start sieging?

They will think you did it(Or at least didn't responsibly protect them), but most of the times they will forgive you. It's fine if they lose a caravan every now and then, just try not to lose too many.

I think that you can lose a few caravans without causing a war, but losing the diplomat will get you sieged every time.
