I think GCS should be turned into semi-megabeasts... maybe up their defense a little to make them a bit harder to kill, but apart from that I reckon they are far too good to just be a random monster.

Also, maybe the old adamantine demon from 2d could be put back in? (I never found one myself, but from what I could tell they were very powerful). There could be a limit of one per world or something.

EDIT: I'm not suggesting adamantine demon for the name, I'm just saying that so you know what I mean. Maybe call it "the demon lord" or something.

Enormous molds. I'm talking about a massive fungal infection that grows across the fortress and crushes or melts with acid anything inorganic, and dissolves and absorbs anything organic.

You'll have to fix the URL yourslelf, the forum doesn't like parens in the URL tag.

How about a vampire lord? each dwarf killed by the vampire lord turns into an undead (not a vampire). and it can change shape into a vampire bat.

Magma Slug:
2 evil abilities.
Melts and/or incinerates everything non-magma-safe within a 1 tile radius, inlcuding ammunition, weapons, traps, drawbridges, and walls.
Leaves a 1/7 trail of magma behind it.

Instead of a mega monster, treat it as a little one that multiplies at super speed. All the rogue-like players know how ugly that can be.

I hate explosive breeders, however, one game actually did it right.  I've forgotten now which (Steamband?) but explosive breeding meant that the population would double in minutes, not seconds.

It could still get out of hand, but typicaly not before the player was able to stop it.

I propose that if Roc's become semi-megabeasts, they have a mount tag.

Nothing like crossbow dwarves on top of giant birds of doom.

If you catch one, you can use it to turn goblins (and dwarves) into high-quality statues.  Decorate your new noble's room with a terrifyingly realistic sculpture of his predecessor...

Maybe it would be fun to have some kind of giant elemental creature/humanoid for each of the western "four elements": earth, air, fire water as megabeasts.  They would be sort of like giants but would hang out in areas appropriate to their respective elements and occasionally attack civs/ each other.

Giant carnivorous plants.

I like the medusa suggestion.

I'm very much against "pop culture reference"-creatures like Terminator or Deep Crows.
