Individual enemies of civilizations
« on: March 13, 2010, 03:52:42 pm »

I know how this works in Adventure mode, but in Dwarf Fortress some, though not all, of my military dwarves are listed as enemies of the goblin civilization and what I assume by the names (The Incest of Failing, The Faith of Decievers) are either local goblin governments or goblin religions.

Does anybody know what causes them to earn this distinction, and or if it has any effect on how goblins will react towards them?

It happens after they have killed a bunch of goblins. The other names are local governments.

It doesn't seem to make any difference since the goblins are hostile anyway.

That was my initial thought, but, at least one dwarf with no kills is listed as an enemy of all three.

In that case, no idea.

'tis the fact that "purring maggot" is another term for a female goblin, so yeah.

Amusing, but no, he was a Champion.

Probably took part in battles but never actually scored a kill?

Quite possible.  But at the same time, there are other dwarves who have killed several goblins who don't get that in their profile.

What, it was OK when it was a larval insect you were "milking"?

I think they may have to just attack/injure a goblin or other being (I'm not sure if it'd count if the goblin struck first, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't if they don't even strike back at all) in order to become enemies with that civilization. I haven't tested it out much, but I have dwarves that became enemies of a civ before actually getting in a kill (sometimes without even getting a single kill during the ambush that marked them as enemies).

The goblins probably received a rather strongly-worded note from them or something.
