So I turned off and and on some options in the init.txt a few minutes ago, turned the game on and my laptop promptly bluescreen'd and died for 20 minutes.

I turned the intro back on and now everything is okay. One time issue? Anyone else?

You probably need to update your video and/or audio drivers.  DF can't cause problems that bad on its own.

If that doesn't help, Toady still can't do anything unless you can identify specific circumstances that cause the crash.

I started (emphasis on started) going through and systematically toggling the options I had changed. First one I did was turning the intro back on. Haven't had the slightest issue since. It ran fine before that, and has run fine after. I am reluctant to try and recreate the event.

None taken, I just don't know if this has happened to anyone else or if it was some unseen force on my machine. I just know I was actively dinking around with DF at the time and starting the game caused the crash.
