aqueduct
« on: November 23, 2007, 12:35:00 am »

has anyone built aqueducts?
basically a walling structure made to channel water across large distances
without having channels and possible use of pumps to push water up

or flowing water down does this cause problems with waterfalls

id like to gather my outside water sources in lakes and wall them into a cistern for use as a significant above ground pool

please realise that attempting to feed ALL the water from outside pools through tunnels to a central cistern /water tank is incredably inefficient.
It's much better to build several buckets and have your dwarves manually pour water into the water storage area bucketful by bucketful, otherwise you'd only end up with a long map-disfiguring muddy corridor.

However, building an over-land aquaduct to channel water down into your fort from a perminate source is always a good idea. The only problem is that it WILL freeze in the winter at whatever parts have constructed roofs.   :(
