You can modify most tags without needing to regen for them to take effect, just not adding or removing whole entries.  Size is an exception, but most of the others are fine.

I haven't been adding [trainable] to anything (I don't like the confusion it causes with wardogs), but I see no reason it shouldn't.

My girl is fond of elk and the like. I've always thought it was silly, but møøse bites can be pretty nasty.

Personally, though, I enjoy building community carp showers in the entrance halls, and war goat herds when I can't.

I think wolves are a bit of a letdown... they're just untrainable dogs, when you get right down to it.

Aren't real life wolves pretty similar to that?

Real life huskies or maybe german shepards... The problem is that dogs in DF seem to be every breed at once.

Besides, training a dog to be a wardog makes them far more potent killers.  This means that wolves are actually weaker than dogs.

Troglydites. In a modded version (dark dwarves), Idle troglydytes will gain social skills and become legendary at them, because they have [CAN_LEARN] but don't do any jobs, and don't actually make friends, so you have a bunch of "Super-trogldytely-tough" trogs.

Yeah, but they're likely better at certain things that dogs haven't had to do in millenia; there's research indicating that domesticated dogs might well be less intelligent than wolves in some ways.

In many ways I'd say.
Though I'm not sure if this is in any way related to their breeding. it might be their upbringing. My brother borrowed a book about dogs and I flipped through a few pages .. a chapter that caught my eye had a strange title. Something about infantilization or retardation or something ... anyway it basically stated that dem dogs don't grow up. Because dem dogs don't get no street smarts.

Now if we would compare a wolf to a stray dog. I wonder who's the smartest.
