modding in the middle of a game
« on: February 20, 2010, 02:03:31 am »

Can I add things like [SPEED:1], [NO_SLEEP], [NO_EAT], [NO_DRINK], and [NOEXERT] in the middle of my Fortress? Actually, I already have [SPEED:1], but I've started a megaconstuction (A tower with magma flowing down all the sides, and a waterfall going down through the middle) and I didn't add this stuff before I started. Can I put them in now without things screwing up?

You still have to save, quit the game, make the changes, save the file, and then start up the game in order for it to take effect.

But you don't test things when you're doing a serious megaconstruction, do you?

I test things like making a megabeast nearly invincible, while one is near my fortress while all my dwarves are outside building my Great Wall and my perimeter of gigantic towers on a really large map area. In other words, I purposely sabotage my megaconstuctions just so I can have an epic fight between my epic Captain (who has over 200 kills with Orcs alone, so epic is a good word to describe him) and an army of Orcs and Elves mounted on my invincible Dragon.

So yes, I do test things while building a serious megaconstruction.

If only I could have my epic bloodshed in one of those awesome community forts...I still have to complete my walls and towers lol, but I've stopped since I don't want to build a beautiful wall and have to restart for the new release (that will make my epic bloodshed even more epic) My Captain rocks, he strangled a dragon (not one of mine, they're invincible :D) and he beat down a Titan.
