Danger! Screw pumps!

I think a screw pump just sucked up a dwarf I had walling off an aquifer below it.  Am I nuts?

That's what DF needs, The gutbuster brigade.  Screw that elf and his cat. Thibbledorf Pwent is the real hero.

Uh....you're probably not nuts because dwarves have been known do some crazy stuff but it's pretty unlikely the dwarf got sucked up the pump. Are you sure there wasn't a convenient nearby staircase he could have used?

If the dwarf had learned to swim (which is likely if he's trying to wall off an aquifer), it's possibe he simply climbed up to the upper level when there was enough water present.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
