Mine vein command
« on: February 17, 2010, 09:12:30 pm »

Probably already covered already somewhere along the line, but what about adding a Dig command that tags any adjacent square of the same material for mining when exposed. eg, you come accross a seam of native gold, tag the 3 exposed tiles with 'mine vein' and the little guys dig out the 3 tiles, exposing adjacent gold tiles which subsequently get tagged for mining, and so on until the entire vein is dug out with you only having to tag 3 squares.

simple, effective and soooo useful.

I think that there are mods that do this.

There should be a menu, maybe underneath economic stones, that allows you to ban certain levels of miner from digging out certain stones, like gems and platinum veins.

Or try FUBAR! The best chocolate bar ever!
And you can't eat them, either, sadly. Even though it'd make sieges so much more fun; dwarves lining the walls, drooling and carrying sharp knives and forks, ready for the upcoming meals.

Or Toady could just make it so miners always leave resources when they mine regardless of their skill level, that wouldn't exactly make the game easier, just more convenient.

Three easy ones. It's been suggested many times before. Please, bump an old thread instead of creating a new one.

Quote from: Toady One
Bloat218, VEIN MINING OPTION, (Future): Ability to designate a metal vein for digging. They'd keep mining out the same kind of metal in adjacent squares as they uncover them.

It's also in the dev notes, which means it's coming. If you want it sooner rather than later (and who doesn't, honestly) vote for it in the eternal voting thingy. It's stickied at the top.
