> Examine the patient, question anyone who witnessed the attack, and ask where is the Desert Bear now?
There is no desert bear. They are speaking in a code. "Attacked" is arrested, and "Desert Bear" is the evil totalitarian government. But they're watching them, so they can't be direct. We could use this to help incite the rebellion, once we cure the people. First, ask the patients what they did before getting this disease. If they were using a poisonous substance, they might be poisoned.

You ask the villagers about the illness.
They say that a merchant had just arrived in town.
He stayed for a night without selling anything and left for the city.

The symptoms of the illness are:
Sneezing a lot and red hands.
After a few days, you start to develop sores on the hands.
The sores slowly spread throughout the body.
Eventually, the sores start to blacken and ooze green stuff.
Then comes excruciating pain an—*ACHOO!*
Oh shit...

Quickly collect as much of every herb as you can.
Luckily you won't get a fever or lethargy or anything.

Like I said, for this segment, you don't need to collect.
You'll instantly have access to any herbs that you've identified.
The whole village is helping out as much as it can.

If there are vials, then make potions 2 part cactus flower, 1 part oasis grass.
If not, have every villager eat a cactus flower and take oasis grass anally.

> Investigate water supply. Look for anything unusual in it, ask villagers about changes in the water.

> Set up control groups, where a pair of villagers use a lot of one (safe) drug and no other drugs. Test out all the known safe drugs in this way. Have two pairs receive placebo. They eat normally.

> Have another pair of villagers receive a placebo, but tell them to eat only a specific type of available food. For each available food, have a placebo pair eat only that food. This way we can test if some of the food is contaminated.

> Ask why the old healer is gone.

You set up a number of tests using the villagers to determine both the cause and the cure.

After three days, you've noticed differences in those who drink cactus flower tea instead of the water supply.
It's become obvious that the water supply is tainted and cactus flowers purify the water.
Oasis grass tea seems to induce vomiting in afflicted villagers.
More testing will be required to determine the full range of effects.

You now have sores on your hands.

Sorry for the large delay, I've been cleaning the house and haven't had any free time until now.

Have all villagers drink only cactus flower tea in the future.

Have one villager eat a lizard raw, have another eat a cooked lizard.
