Pile-up!

I just had the dwarven caravan arrive. The human caravan is still in my depot. This is going to be interesting.

And...?

What happened? I've had caravans freeze on or near my depot before, so I'm curious to see what happens when there's technically two caravans at once. Better yet - wait a year and find out if anything happens when the sama caravan is at your depot twice.

Keep in mind that the dwarves are essentially alcoholic toddlers, and act accordingly.

I seem to be able to trade with the dwarves like normal. The humans are still here.

I've had 3 different groups at my TD before, you just select who you wanna trade with in an extra menu that comes up after you press Trade in the TD itself.

I don't think traders will ever fight amongst each other, but hey, Dwarf Fortress has a tendency to be working completely different for different people.

I think traders might very well square off and fight.

I embarked on a elven retreat once. When I got there it turned into a free-for-all with the elves massacring eachother. Around 80 of them ended up dying. It was brutal!

After poking around it seemed that they had some messed up civilization ideas. They belonged to civ A which had been conquered by civ B but the civ still "remained" in memory and they were still at war - there were elves who belonged to both civ A and B and ... it was just a clusterfuck.

Now imagine that your neighbourhood elves are at war with your neighbourhood humans. or they've had some kind of grievances in the past - what will happen when both show up?

A merchant battle that's what. The humans flinging arrows at the elves and the elves flinging caged creatures right back at them!

-snip-

The important question is who won and how many were left.

The next important question is did you kill them?

No I just hurried to gather the spoils and set up a trade depot.  ;D and by spoils I mean everything from weaponry and clothes to the corpses, which I dumped in a 1x1 room to prevent future bone rotting. I think about .. 30 survived. I haven't done much with that fort since then though.

Maybe I should.
