honestly, I've found aquifers to be pretty awesome, once you got the procedure for busting a hole through them down. Unlimited source and disposal of water? Yes please. Perfect for drowning traps, power needs, what have you.

I loved my hallway that led enemy's into a drowning chamber linked up with pressure plates. It even drained too for all of their goodies. (worked with caravans too!)
