A problem with my creature?
« on: February 10, 2010, 11:15:28 pm »

I've tried my hand at making a new creature and have had relatively good success in making it exist. When I tried to make this creature into a civ, I've never seen it during or after worldgen, and I'd like to know what I'm doing wrong.
Spoiler: the creature entry (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: the entity entry (click to show/hide)
I know it exists because it shows up as a Play Now! option.

That could be it. Often the game'll only let you place certain site types on certain biomes.

But they must be in the forests, otherwise I will not have any phantom spider silk-carrying trading partners...

Then what's wrong with giving them the TREE_CITY site type?

   [START_BIOME:FOREST]

There's your problem. FOREST is not a biome. There's ANY_FOREST, though.

Apparently having a redundant creature entry causes the game to say, "Oh, look, it's crazy world now. Nothing makes sense! Alligators live in houses!"

Did you add your entries to existing files, or do you have seperate *.txt's for your entries?

If your creature is in a separate file, it is possible that you neglected to add the neccessary creature_* pretag at the begining of the file. Same goes for entity, if you for entity_*.
