Started a new fort and with the first dwarven caravan, an elf liason arrived. He offers dwarven goods in his agreements. I think he is a captured slave as my civ has warred with the elves in the past. His title should probably not be "Elf Outpost Liason".

Yeah, I'd say that he's rather a MEMBER of that civilization, as people living in captured cities adopt the culture of the capturing one. It's kinda rare, I don't see this alot in my games.

Oh and yes, the name is bugged.

How's the name bugged?  It doesn't mean that he's a liaison to elves, it just means that he's an elf and also a liaison, just like "dwarf woodcutter" or "human child" or whatever else.

Except that that's not how names work.  They would be listed as "name", Child.  Or "name", Woodcutter -- regardless of race.

With some professions, the suffix -man is changed to -dwarf, but that's the only racial difference in job titles that I'm aware of.

I beleive how it works is that when they're the same species as you, they just get [name], [job].  When they're a different species, they get [name], [species] [job].

On one of the map I've made, I also got an Elven liason, although he is titled the Dwarf Post Liason. There are some other Elves with him as well, along with Dwarven military. During trading, he sends greetings from the Mountainhomes, so I'm guessing he was captured or adopted and made a name for himself as a trader.
