Hiring goblin ambushers
« on: May 19, 2008, 10:25:00 am »

Recently a huge human caravan was ambushed by some goblins. In the resulting chaos, many goods were dropped. This got me thinking... What if I could hire goblins to ambush certain caravans, specifically? I would get all the valuable stuff like metal and other materials, while they get to keep meat and some other stuff?

This could have an impact on the caravans, such as bringing more guards, or not coming at all. Or, they could have construct a permanent guard outpost to prevent further ambushes, and as an aside making it difficult to sneak in the goblin who negotiates the hired ambushes.

I think negotiations would be fine, right up until as the goblin is leaving a dwarf baby falls out his coat, and they search him to find he is hiding every dwarven child in the fortress there.

The caravan losing things on your property counts against your reptutation which can eventually lead to wars and such.   So it's not really a beneficial thing or exploit.

Of course, negotiating with other races is in for the future regardless, but probably in broader capacity than this.
