Windows Don't Collapse
« on: January 23, 2010, 04:23:01 pm »

As title.  For the Big Red Lever fort I ended up having a small pyramid with a glass window outer layer.  Everything (except the glass) fell at least 5 levels into the pit.  1 wagon and some down ramps also didn't fall.

Wagons are known to have that behavior and ramps will leave 'ghosts' in midair if you collapse a mountain with ramps still on it.

Never heard of that happening with windows though since they should fall like any other construction.

Edit: I didn't find anything specific to windows, but I found two relating to consttuctions:

# 001038 □ [cave-ins] (Report) bed stayed floating in tile after a cave-in
# 001085 □ [cave-ins] (Report) door remained hanging in the air after constructions around it collapsed

I suppose I'd have had beds / doors floating too if I'd had any that weren't crushed. :P

Earlier on pre-collapse I was getting rid of the stairs I used to dig the pit (as they were providing support) and got a segment of up-down stairs floating in mid air too.  Some of them had been constructed.

I've had a statue hover over the top of a magma pipe.

My roofless room I was building over the top of it collapsed, and I had put the statue in early. SPLOOSH.
Everything except for the statue falls in. It took me a moment to figure out what that symbol hovering over the lava was.

Sounds like constructed buildings don't collapse when they suddenly become unsupported.  Anyone want to verify this?

Sounds like it has already been verified. Draco, now I know your plan for the contest and can more thoroughly top it!

I'm judging.  I did the fort because I could.

I've never seen any building collapse.
