Regardless of what is done in the new version, the long term plan, I think, is for areas to have 'spheres' that influence their magical natures - we already have "good" and "evil areas, and that's intended to be expanded and generalized.

It would be interesting if the area you're in could sometimes influence the things you craft there.  So, if you live in an evil area for a long time, you might produce tainted weapons and armor, while equipment forged on holy ground might have bonuses against evil things.

Kinda funny... That though Good and Evil spheres are planned to be removed... The idea of good and evil spheres arn't
