Mid-Summer:
Fey mood! It's carpenter! Let's see what he produces...
Wait...
Isn't he...
He is...
But then...
Yup, he's bedridden, but it doesn't stop him from crawling around with a mangled left foot, stopping every once in a while to be unconscious. He eventually claims a bowyer's shop, and wanders in search of goods.

Meanwhile...

A metalsmith is minding his own business when suddenly a batman appears, and then another one, and another. they chase him around until I auto-zoom to the wounded swarf who has begun his construction, I return to find the batmen dead and nobody else around.

Late Summer:
Batmen everywhere! One of them killed a metalsmith, now we only have one capable forge worker!
On a lighter note, the fey carpenter finished his artifact; a blowgun:

did you build those magma forges? i moved the ore and fuel to the river.

also be sure to reactivate the magma channel soon. it was being used to purge the chasm

I just realized, after adding the new body parts to the other races, that I have an entire squad of dwarves with a shield in each hand and swinging their axes with their penises. There's nightmare fuel for those goblins, in more ways than one.

We kinda need steel for that...

I have no idea how to do that.

Dump magma in chasm via channel. At first it makes lots of creatures come out, but eventually, they all die off.

I meant that I don't know how to reopen the channel.

next to the maus and archery range is a lever room. pull the bottom lever to re-open the magma channel

Taco Dan's ignorance leads to the death of several dwarves.

Early Autumn
It's veeery slow going for some reason, nobody wants to do what they're told.
Caravan, traded some cloth and goods for food.
I swear, these batmen are the bane of my existence, every time they pop out they pause the game, it's so annoying.
The latest batman has gone on a kitten killing spree, luckily they're not owned, so nobody cares.

Mid Autumn
Peasant goes berserk... wait... where is he?
*Unit list*
There he is... he's in bed... wounds? Two red feet... easy pickings.
I had just station a squad in his room to kill him before he kills anyone else, when two dwarves become melancholy, a carpenter and a craftsdwarf.
Oh boy, I sense a tantrum spiral!
Two more melancholies, a miner and a farmer.
Migrants arrive, 1 Craftsdwarf, 2 Miners, 1 Trapper, 1 Mason and 1 worthless peasant.

Late Autumn
Melancholy wrestler.
Melancholy metalsmith.
New trapper dies.
Carpenter starves.
Miner bleeds to death.

Early Winter
Batmen! >:(
Miner dies of thirst.
I checked some statuses, and although people are dying all around them, most people don't seem to mind. For example:

Wait.. thirst?
Hold on...
WE HAVE NO BOOZE!!!
Where's the still?!?
There it is! Make booze!!!
We also have no meat! Butcher useless animals! Lots of kitten meat!
Argh! I'm so dumb! I should have checked earlier!
Ah well, no harm done...
Oh... Wait..

Hehe... Oops...

Mid Winter
Even more people die from my stupidity.
Moar batmen!! These guys really like killing animals.
The mausoleum is half full now. If there are going to be zombies, we're fucked.
I'm not kidding when I say that the Mausoleum is Half full with no spaces in between coffins:

Late Winter
A fire man destroyed the floodgate holding back the magma and then apparently disappeared, I can't find him.
Wait, he destroyed the forge and the smelter as well... where is he?
He's not on the unit list...
A fire man has sprung from ambush!
Oh shit!
It killed a peasant and then was brought downby someone, I don't know who because I wasn't paying attention.
'Ezkh' died from the magma along with a few other dwarves, the worst part is, I can't stop the magma any more.
What the HFS?
Don't go into the magma! You will die! Don't be a dumbass!
Fey metalsmith, one problem, no forge.

As the end of the year draws close, I reflect on what I've learned:
  • Check food stocks often
  • backup floodgates are a VERY good idea
  • figure out where everything is before starting
Tips for the next person:
Learn from my mistakes! Don't do what I did wrong!
