Different sized graphics.
« on: January 21, 2010, 03:40:58 am »

A couple graphic questions. Probably lame, but the keyword search turned up nothing of the like.

1. Do all graphics have to be the same size? I use : [TILE_DIM:16:16]
                                                                 [PAGE_DIM:9:12]
if I do something with more pixels, will it screw stuff up, or just look funny?

2. Is it possible to make a creature use multiple tiles, like the wagon, if I want to make it look large? Or is that hardcoded, and out of reach currently? I kinda want to make a large creature look large and all.

Thanks for your answers, in advance.

I have an answer to question #2:

All creatures are restricted to 1 tile, no matter the size. Wagons are an exception to this, though someone more familiar to the workings of wagons would have to explain what exactly wagons are... Mysterious beings, wagons.

2. Wagons are creatures with a token which disable graphics on them and adds "wagon" behaviour while disables lots of things.

1. Do you mean the tiles? No, they may have any size, but the game will scale them down to tile size.

Actually, I believe that there's an option in init.txt for that. [BLACKSPACE:YES] or something like that. Either way, you CAN have larger/smaller/rectangular graphics, but they'll work better with matching tiles.

BLACKSPACE:YES disables tileset stretching by adding black space in the fullscreen mode.

The question was about graphic creature tiles, not character tiles.

And I agree with Eagle0600 that original sized graphics look better with matching tiles because scaling may break the way they look here and there.

So, to clarify, I can make a more detailed tile, but it may look funky/be glitchy sometimes.

Right. And in 40d16 you can zoom in so the tile covers almost the whole screen :).

Hmmm, to further clarify, you can assign any size you want, but all the tiles have to be of this size.
