Wouldn't that mean you would embark and see "drowning" carp until they learn how to swim?

I think a high enough toughness can keep you from drowning before reaching swimming 6.  But can that toughness be reached by fish before they drown?  Natural selection!

Alternately, make them not need to breathe, adventure around, then add breathing back in after they're insanely leveled.

Can't they already breathe underwater? I always thought the [AQUATIC] tag did that. (Otherwise how would they survive in >1 z level deep water?)

So they would "drown" until they have high enough swimming level.

Would giving the carp the [CORRUPT_INTENTIONS] tag do anything other than having engravings of carp doing depraved things to elves?
