Elven ruler of GOBLINS?
« on: January 25, 2010, 06:10:46 pm »

Well, for the lulz of when I get my ass kicked by the now hostile goblins when an ambush comes I started on a dark tower and made my fortress in it.

I started the fortress in the middle sized tower thinking all 3 were the same, until I decided to explore the others in the [k] menu.
On the top of the highest tower I find a huge horde of goblins and humans EVERYWHERE and thinking of my doom I see a flashy elf. I view him with [k] to see what legendary skill he has. It's not a skill, he's the RULER.

That's right,Zolak Ustexolngo Exuz Zugo:Elf fishery Worker, you lead the most ignorant and bloodthirsty bastards in the world.

Fuck they have a lot of weapon wielders.

This happens. Warlike race goes to war, beats other civs and assimilates some of the people into their own. Then elven/human/dwarven kids grow up in the goblin civ and may get major positions. Such as king.

See also http://dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/Cacame_Awemedinade, elven king of the dwarves. I also recall some world where the elven prisoners outbred the goblins, turning the civ into essentially an elven civ with a demon ruler and goblin ethics.

Goblin civs always seem to be a huge homogenization of the races.  Hell, I've seen a few Goblin towers where there were practically no Goblins at all.  It's because of their kidnapping tendencies, I suspect, and not due to conquering the cities of other civs.  See, conquered cities of other civs don't adopt the naming schemes of their conquerors.  However, the children of kidnapping victims often do end up that way.  It's obvious that your Elf there is Goblin-born, as it were, since his name is in the Goblin language and follows the Goblin convention of at least one part of his overall name being a vulgarity.

I remember that, elves eating elves, dwarves kicking elf ass, demented rulers trapped on the edge of the map, hilarious.
