Has anyone got a graphical repack of the 2D version? A friend of mine wants to start playing, but the 3D version is much, MUCH more complicated than the 2D version is.

Though the 3D version may be more complex gameplay-wise. The most difficult part of the game - the interface - is MUCH better in the 3D version. Most people can figure out complex gameplay, but complex GUI's are a different matter. Your friend would probably be better off with the 3D version.

I don't know. The 2D version had constant unavoidable attacks from WITHIN your fortress, it had the potential for very easily "permaflooding" your fort, you had to deal with the double-floodgate/channel thing in order to set up farming-- either that, or do nile farming and risk drowning every spring...

The 3D version's farming systems and defenses are so much simpler that I got bored with it. I'm anxiously awaiting the new version because it's going to re-add complexity that is LACKING now.
