Come on guys, do you really judge people by the size of their avatar? It's not the size of the boat, it's the motion in the ocean... and the flashing, don't forget the flashing anime effects.
I have avatars disabled.  I've learned to pay attention to those chains of symbols that we commonly refer to as nicknames.

interesting... I logged off to see it and you're right.  With IE it showed a Firefox logo.  With firefox is just a blank square.

how does it work? (probably using the particular characteristic of Firefox for whitespaces that many people find annoying?)

It uses firefox's APNG support.

APNG is animated PNGs, but the first frame has backwards compatibilty.
First frame is the firefox logo, second one is whitespace
I set the animation to skip the first frame.
(I couldn't think what to put in the second one)
From the wikipedia
Quote
The first frame of an APNG file is stored as a normal PNG stream, and so most old PNG decoders will be able to display the first frame of an APNG file. The frame speed data and extra animation frames are stored in extra chunks (as provided for by the original PNG specification).

EDIT: I think i'll put a chrome logo in the second one :)

Yes, let us all pay respects to the motion of his avatar. He is indeed more avatarier than us.

1-look at my avatar
2-refresh
3-repeat

Don't do it too much, I have a limit of 2000 page loads every 24 hours.

Is the problem the fact that it keeps vanishing?

Because you just gave the reason it keeps happening.

Don't do it too much, I have a limit of 2000 page loads every 24 hours.
You have 100 posts.
We have 300 members online at any given time for the most part.
I see a problem.

I had to take mine off of Photobucket, as Bay12 slaughtered my bandwidth cap repeatedly.
