College credits transfer
« on: December 30, 2009, 10:21:39 pm »

i've been going to NCC and am planning on transferring to stonybrook.

The thing i want to know is if i have like, 80 credits, will they all be transferred to stonybrook or will they only accept 64 credits? which is the requirements for an associates degree.

It entirely depends on stonybrook. when you apply as a transfer, theyll send you back a form that will tell you what credits transfered as what.
This can lead to some odd scenarios, like when a college accepted about 18 credits worth of computer science classes as liberal arts credits  ::)

If you have a transfer degree they should transfer properly.
The maximum guarrenteed number of credits for a transfer without a degree or program is pretty low though, so be very careful.

Ask the college you're transferring to, they'll tell you what you can keep and what you lose.

I'm pretty sure your Gen Eds will always transfer, but beyond that it depends on what school you're going to and from.

Where I come from, you're only allowed to transfer half the course at maximum. So if you need 80 creds to complete your course, you can only transfer up to 40.
