Empty bins and messy stockpiles D:
« on: December 21, 2009, 12:36:44 am »

Ok, so I've been playing this, frankly, fabulous game for awhile now and sometimes it just baffles me. Case in point. I have a hugely messy stockpile and it took me forever to realize why...I have a bunch of crafts and bins...but none of the crafts are IN bins. In fact, the bins are /empty/.

Why would this be? Any ideas?

Your dwarves should periodically move bins from other stockpiles to stockpiles that require them and store goods in them, though a backlog of high priority jobs (e.g. dumping) could be delaying this. You should also check that the bins are accessible (e.g. they're not forbidden and there's a cleat path to them). Not sure what the problem could be. You might have also set the maximum bins to something from the default and forgot about it, but I doubt it.

Sorry if I'm not being particularly helpful, but that's all I could think of :P

I've noticed that if I set a stockpile with bins to have a maximum of zero bins, the bins will eventually be emptied but not always carried off to the furniture stockpile.  Could you have hit shift-C by accident over this stockpile?
