Using Adventure Mode to Help a New Fortress

Can anyone confirm that this works:
1) In a mature fortress, make some excellent armor and weapons.
2) Abandon the fortress.
3) Start a hero in adventure mode, find the fortress, collect the armor and weapons.
4) Move the adventurer to the site of your new fortress.
5) Drop the armor and weapons on the ground.
6) Retire the adventurer.  Start the new fortress.

Also, if the adventurer massacres nearby monster populations, including fortresses, will that make life easier for the new fortress?

That won't work because anything that's not in a bin will scatter everywhere. Unless you bring a bin as well...

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

Isn't having a bunch of steel plate + swords scattered everywhere better then not having them at all? Gathering them is faster and easier then the whole mine->smelt->forge junk for skill->smelt->forge weapons  process.

Yes, everything you've proposed is possible. Though it's a lot of work just to get some armor for a new fortress.

I just strip the caravan guards.
