I recently found a ideal spot for me to set up a fortress but the site is 8x8, I normally play on the default and get some slowdown after my fort fully matures. I want to know if  embarking at 8x8 would change some slowdown to massive slowdown. The site has every feature (minus a river which I'm tempted to expand a lil to get) and I'm runing a combo of Relentless Assault/Dig Deeper. The mods might make things slow down more then normal for all I know.

An 8x8 embark nearly doubles the playable area from a 6x6. That doesn't mean it will be unplayable, but it will still be noticeably slower than what you're probably used to.
