handle encrusting more like butchering
« on: March 02, 2007, 09:59:00 pm »

Just a thought I had as I was shuffling stockpiles around trying to keep my jeweler from encrusting the same wooden bin over and over again - as the title says, why not make encrusting (and maybe the decorating your craftsdwarf does) work more like butchering?

ie: pick an individual item with q or t or whatever and have options there to decorate or encrust it. This would take you to another menu that would let you choose specifically what you wanted done to it, at which point a job would automatically be created in the nearest jewelery and/or craftshop.

Toady has mentioned that the decoration interface needs some work.

Just what he has in mind, we'll have to see. I suspect something like the melt/chasm interface. You mark something(s) to be decorated, then create a decorating job, and it'll work through your checked list.

That said, I like your idea, since it's usually easier to pick the exact thing you want by using q or t.
