Any learned guitar players about?
« on: December 08, 2009, 08:30:24 am »

I've been up bored all night goofing around with my guitar for the first time in ages. I'm not particularly good, and I'm trying to play the House theme song (i.e. Teardrop by Massive Attack). The song has a 'heartbeat' sound that I want to emulate by thumping on the guitar.

But, I'm having a problem; doing it makes my voice 'wobble'. I uploaded the first little bit of the song to show you what I mean here: http://fallout-mux.wikidot.com/local--files/start/td.mp3

That's on a crappy headset-style mic because I don't have anything decent around, and I only recorded one and a half verses, but it should illustrate the problem pretty well. Do there happen to be any guitar gurus on the board who know how to do this *without* the irritating wobbling side-effect? I presume there's some area of the guitar to hit that won't cause it, but for the life of me I can't figure out where it is.

As a semi-experienced guitarist of 3 years now, I can tell you that it sounds fine. Just keep playing and you'll get better and eventually figure it out.

Newton Faulkner does a pretty awesome cover of the song, you can see how he does it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjT86g9gTKk&feature=related
