Cuggantarmid, Sandblades. (Sucsession/community Fort)
« on: November 15, 2009, 03:42:56 pm »

I looked at the king in incredulity.

"What!?"

"You heard me. I tire of stone. You must build me a glass fortress."

"But... but... how will we get wood? food?"

"That's up to you to find out."

Oh god no.

I sighed.

(Hi! first community fort that I'm starting, alt prntscreen mspaint upload, but how do you upload saves?

i think i have just the molten rock mod for this region.

anyway, post what labor you would like to have! name and all that crap.

(someone WILL have to have glass making)

yes i may have wussed out a bit with the location. havent played a sand fort before, so this promises to be very "Fun"

So is this a Succession Fort or community fort because I read the title and the little part in brackets. If it's a succession fort I would like to take a spot, 3 or 4 turn would be nice.
If it's a community fort, can I have a dorf?

Name: Cog
Profession: Death Mechanic
Skills: Proficient Mechanic, any other skills that would help us survive.

you can have a place, and a spot.

im kinda iffy on what community and succesion mean.

to me, its the same thing.

put you down as 10 mechanic, 7 weapon smith, 7armor smith, and 6 metal smith

Succession means several players play the fortress one after another. Community means people can name dwarves.

Any mods or rules that I should know about? Also what version D16 or just plain 40D? Any Init changes or RAW changes? You should just upload the whole game file methinks. Firefox takes methinks as a real word!

You can upload the game file here: http://dffd.wimbli.com/
modding instructions are here (well at least some basic ones): http://dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/Modding_Guide

That's about it.

Journal of Dermonster, entry one.

I must admit, i have seen worse than this desert. there are some murkey pools spread out a bit, giant cacti for a pitiful ammount of wood, but at least we aren't completely doomed.

Ive set dumat and a Dwarf that insists upon calling itself 'Waga' to digging. Set up a Carpenters workshop and sent someone to work on some beds.

6?th of granite
farms have been set up, food stockpile is set, and i set up a barracks where we can sleep, if a bit uncomfortably. the plan for a well from a nereby murky pool is beuing drawn out, and i set up an exploratoy shaft through the sand. if we can find some rock, we might be able to set up some walls, and start the glassmaking process.

9th of granite. (I think)

well SHIT. we struck an aquifer two levels below us. IN THE DESERT. we have no stone and theres an aquifer beneath us.  i hate everything.

ordered a large area excavated right above the aquifer so we might be able to pump it out someday.

Glass surface fortresses in the desert are my hobby. I'm in! :-)

Dwarf: Lav. Skills: glass (4), masonry (4), architecture (2).

Though if you've already started, just name one, preferably a glassmaker or mason.

Seems to be the way with things on this forum; if an invention doesn't involve death by magma then you know someone's going to go out of their way to make sure it does involve death by magma... then it gets acknowledged as being a great invention.

12?th of granite.
Waga drowned. several times. but then he lived. im starting to wonder about my sanity.

???

Build four pumps surrounding a small aquifer pool. Greatly enlarging the surrounding area. First time draining an aquifer, so... cheers!
