Zombie Breeding
« on: December 01, 2009, 09:49:47 pm »

In short, is it possible to breed zombies? I'd like to drop a wave of Zombie Cougars on the next goblin siege, or at least have a supply of Zombie Groundhogs to train my new wrestlers on.

No undead things cannot make more undead things.

That which is dead cannot give life. They do, however, spawn on maps, so if you have a map with undead cougars you only need to catch more of them. That, however, is a pain in the butt to do. Consider using a bait dwarf to lead the zombie to the cages, any old soap maker will do, just activate him in the military, station him close enough to the zombie to lure it, then move his station to the opposite side of a cage trap. Works like a charm.

Could use a chained up animal to lure it in instead of a dwarf... then again it gives your soapmaking immigrants something useful to do.

And then, there is the benefit of "Oups, there is 5 zombies and only 4 traps" wich dispense you of finding a complex and potentially fortress-flooding way of dispensing with that soapmaker.

You might be able to make a new creature which is for all intents and purposes a zombie (no breathing or pain, uses a zombie model, etc) but thanks to being a normal creature can still breed.

Apparently having a redundant creature entry causes the game to say, "Oh, look, it's crazy world now. Nothing makes sense! Alligators live in houses!"
