Well, I personally rather like to create, er, stockpiles of infinite Prepared Meals.

That means big fields for Quarry Bushes (and brewable plants)

Which means I typically have around 5 legendary miners so I can quickly create new stockpiles, a ton of haulers for when I designate masses of stone for dumping, and a lot of "Planter" peasants who do nothing but pick up my plants.

Thus, stonecrafters.

For the mercy of Armok, it's like this game is training you to be a dictator who kills for his own amusement. I see a lot of dark threads like this, especially guilty is the Mermaid farmer.

You don't have to. It's just more entertaining.

But killing your OWN dwarves?
I'd understand if it was elves, but these are your DWARVES, they work laborous days just to please you and your unreasonable demands, only to be killed for your amusement. You have become what you hated most... Count Dorku, Noble.

I also believe killing things that don't attack or are to much a hassle to get, is pointless.

Uh, OF COURSE YES! Do you know how many peasants I've sacrificed to Armok by making them open magma pipes?

I make them engrave the walls of their tombmagma chamber before opening up the magma flow.   :D

If it's immediately destroyed, then it wasn't done for personal gain and is therefore true art, I suppose. Amusing.

Actually only engravings on the floor will be destroyed. Remember that walls containing magma do not actually touch the magma, thus engravings on the walls will not be destroyed.

I never could do the "embark with no items" thing.  One pick, one axe, one crossbow.  That's as good a start as anything.
