Spikes? (Goblins need something to land on)

Should prove effective against Megaman, as well.

Seriously, what's a two-hundred foot plunge without some metal or wood spikes at the
bottom? Make the Spikes at a forge, and have a mason drill a little hole and sit them in the ground. No mechcanisms needed. Or save even That trouble and have the masons build and place stone spikes like statues. Or go nuts and have spikes as one of the finished surface option.
Of course, they would need to be coded so that the only did damage when an enemy
fell on them, and the damage would be increased with the distance of the fall.

Why should they not deal damage to everything that fell on them?

I already do this with spear traps and a little imagination!
I'm one step ahead!

They do need to cause multiple wounds though. Or have a weapontrap style selection screen that allows you to choose how many spikes you want. A single spike is likely to be dodged by an agile creature that will only suffer basic falling damage that way. A 3x3 grid of 9 spikes should be alot harder to dodge for example.

Thinking about it, can we make slicer traps too? It's a trapdoor, a pit and several swords sticking out of the wall. Everything that doesn't have matrix esque  skills is likely to arrive with alot of wounds when they get to the bottom of it. Airborne creatures can fly down and avoid the blades if they are smart.
