Happy Ending
« on: November 21, 2009, 11:15:01 pm »

So I got besieged by the orcs and had to hole up. I pull the drawbridge shut and prepare to wait them out. Unfortunately, they stick around the whole year and right up until the next siege appears.

At first I'm ok, but I start running out of barrels due to an overproduction of plump helmets. Desperate, I drain a lake into my fortress, but I missed a hole in the wall of the cistern and it ended up spreading out and evaporating. As my dwarves start reaching dehydration I realize I have to fight off the siege or we're going to die.

I set up my marksdwarves behind some fortifications down the hall, start the atom smasher, and lower the drawbridge. The orcs roar over the bridge, and are mowed down by the atom smasher. Not a single one of them gets past.

Chuckling, I order my dwarves to go out and have a refreshing drink from the river, and they happily pour out through the doors. There was only one problem. I had forgotten to shut off the atom smasher.

And...why is this a happy ending?

Because the orcs got atom smashed when they zerg-rushed into the fort?

It's a Happy ending, because it makes you laugh.

Or is it just me?

Centration. Similar to Spacestation 13, but in 3D and first-person. Sounds damn awesome.

My reaction was a sight to see. A mixture of "OMG NOOOOOOOO NOT NOW WHY WHY WHY" and uncontrolled laughter.
